1. Document Purpose

This Badge and Recognition Policy establishes how ReadinessOS awards, displays, manages, and, where necessary, revokes badges and recognition associated with professional participation within the platform.

The objective of the badge system is to encourage continuous operational readiness engagement and recognize documented participation over time.

Badges are intended to reflect platform activity and should never be interpreted as regulatory certification, professional licensing, or competency validation.

2. Scope

This policy applies to:

  • Professional user profiles
  • Future Readiness Passport records
  • Readiness participation history
  • Platform achievements
  • Recognition labels
  • Identity verification badges
  • Founding Member recognition
  • Longevity awards
  • Participation milestones
  • Future platform achievement systems

3. Definitions

For the purposes of this policy:

Badge means a digital recognition awarded within ReadinessOS based on documented platform activity.

Recognition means a non-certification acknowledgment of participation, contribution, or longevity.

Achievement means a measurable milestone recorded within the platform.

4. Purpose of the Badge System

The Badge System exists to encourage:

  • Continuous participation
  • Operational readiness engagement
  • Scenario review
  • Drill participation
  • Observation reporting
  • Corrective action involvement
  • Long-term commitment to readiness culture

The Badge System is not intended to rank professionals or determine employability.

5. Badge Principles

All ReadinessOS badges must:

  • Be evidence-based
  • Be objectively measurable
  • Be awarded through documented activity
  • Avoid subjective evaluation
  • Avoid popularity metrics
  • Avoid manual favoritism whenever practical

Badges should reward participation rather than status.

7. Qualification Criteria

Badge eligibility is determined using documented platform activity.

Examples include:

  • Number of drills participated
  • Number of scenarios reviewed
  • Number of observations submitted
  • Number of corrective actions completed
  • Platform membership duration
  • Identity verification status
  • Documented engagement consistency

ReadinessOS may revise qualification thresholds as the platform evolves.

8. Founding Member Badge

The Founding Member badge recognizes participation during the early development of ReadinessOS.

This badge reflects historical participation in the platform's founding program.

Founding status does not imply professional superiority or operational competence.

9. Verified Professional Badge

The Verified Professional badge indicates that ReadinessOS has completed an identity verification process for the profile holder.

Identity verification confirms profile authenticity only.

The badge does not validate:

  • Professional qualifications
  • Certificates
  • Competence
  • Experience
  • Employment history
  • Regulatory compliance

10. Display of Badges

Badges may appear within:

  • Professional profiles
  • Readiness Passport summaries
  • Career Timeline
  • Shared profile links
  • Future public profiles

Users may control badge visibility through available profile visibility settings where supported.

11. Non-Certification Disclaimer

Badges awarded by ReadinessOS:

  • Are not licenses
  • Are not certificates
  • Are not STCW qualifications
  • Are not MCA qualifications
  • Are not Flag State approvals
  • Are not competency assessments
  • Are not employment recommendations
  • Do not replace regulatory training requirements

Badges reflect documented platform participation only.

12. Badge Revocation

ReadinessOS may revoke badges where:

  • Fraud is detected
  • False documentation is submitted
  • Platform abuse occurs
  • Administrative error occurred
  • Badge requirements are no longer satisfied
  • Platform records are corrected
  • Enforcement actions require removal

Badge revocation may occur without compensation.

13. Corrections and Appeals

Users who believe a badge has been incorrectly awarded or removed may submit a correction or appeal under the Appeals and Corrections Policy.

Supporting evidence may be requested before administrative review.

Administrative decisions following review may be final.

14. Future Recognition Systems

Future versions of ReadinessOS may introduce:

  • Department achievements
  • Vessel achievements
  • Fleet achievements
  • Operational milestones
  • Community participation recognition
  • Educational achievements
  • AI-assisted readiness milestones

Future recognition systems remain subject to this policy unless otherwise stated.

15. AI-Generated Recommendations

Artificial intelligence may assist in identifying badge eligibility or recommending achievements.

Final badge assignment remains subject to ReadinessOS platform rules and administrative controls where applicable.

AI-generated recommendations do not guarantee badge issuance.

16. Relationship to Other Policies

This policy should be interpreted together with:

  • Terms of Service
  • Professional Profile Policy
  • Career Timeline Policy
  • Readiness Passport Policy
  • Data Ownership Policy
  • Appeals and Corrections Policy
  • Account Suspension and Fraud Policy

Where conflicts exist regarding personal information processing, the Privacy Policy shall govern.
